PROJECT

GWG Architects is providing architectural, planning& interior design services to the Connecticut Dept. of Transportation (ConnDOT) for the upgrade, renovation, and adaptive re-use of various facilities as part of the $850 Million expansion and redevelopment of the New Haven Rail Yard.


PROGRAM

The upgrade projects included:

- EMU Rail Car Facility:

exterior modernizations and system up grades to 57,800 SF maintenance facility

- CSR Rail Car Facility:

exterior and interior code upgrades and facility improvements of 60,000 sf maintenance facility

- Building 10:

all new compact storage systems for 10,000 sf historic industrial building

- Component Change Out Facility:

new 7,500 SF, 250 person cafeteria with kitchen as well as ADA compliant personnel locker room showers

- Pedestrian Bridge Study:

design of new pedestrian bridge that connects platforms to Component Change Out Facility & new parking garage for personnel
