CT Tennis Center Renovations & Upgrades
new haven - 2016
GWG designed and oversaw construction of a series of improvements and upgrades to the Connecticut Tennis Center, originally constructed in 1991. The CT Tennis Center is the home to the week long, annual CT Open, a woman’s tennis tournament that brings an average of 50,000 patrons a year.
The first phase of work included updates to the existing concession stand, exterior restrooms upgrades, new wayfinding signage for entire seating area of main bowl as well as new exterior paint coating system for all railings. During the second phase of work replacements and upgrades were made to the existing aging HVAC system as well as other utility upgrades including new gas line for upgraded water heaters and other equipment. Over two more phases of work complete renovation of the 20,000 square feet space under the stadium bowl was performed. Those spaces included new Player’s Facility featuring a large players lounge complete with a custom pool table, flat-screen TVs and computers; a small player gym; a new players physio-therapy area complete with an ice bath; new player locker rooms, as well as male and female coaches locker rooms; a dining area that includes a dishwasher and oven; additional office and player’s services spaces as well as new Tournament Operations Offices and Media Center.
A complete 5-10 year master plan was also prepared that features a new catering kitchen and full service restaurant to service the annual CT Open as well as provide support for year-round rent-able space within the Stadium’s players facility and office/media spaces.
